Well, i I'm still alive. To borrow a quote from everyone's favorite movie, Tommy Boy;
'Lot's of people go to school for seven years.'
'Yeah, they're called doctors...'
Well, so i may be slower than most, but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel! if all goes well, i should be finishing up within the year!! Woohoo! In the meantime, check in often, because i'll be milking this experience for all it's worth! Enjoy living vicariously ;-)
Now I'm not good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems off three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.
...someday, you'll understand that.

The incredible shrinking tenure track
2009-11-02 15:42:58
According to science:
"Tenure-track openings routinely attract scores or even hundreds of applications, several speakers noted. Amidst mountains of resumes, hiring committees of competing research universities vie for the same small group of elite candidates. These few stars each garner multiple interviews and job offers while many of their fellow applicants count themselves lucky to receive a form rejection letter. Sometimes, in fact, departments that fail to land their top choice leave tenure-track positions unfilled rather than hire from a slightly lower echelon."

So what do you if you're just one of those scores?
